Join ASTEN

Benefits of membership

ASTEN is a vibrant network of people from science centres and museums motivated to make unforgettable STEM engagement experiences. Spanning across Australia and New Zealand, and we are proud of the professional sharing and discussion that takes place amongst members, as well as the collective knowledge and experience that the network holds.

ASTEN connects organisations and leaders in the STEM engagement space, sharing best practice for the development and delivery of physical exhibits, learning spaces and inspiring programs related to STEM.

The Network provides a mechanism for early and mid-career STEM engagement professionals who are encouraged to connect and learn from each other, developing life long, professional connections that support the growth of skills and mobility between organisations in the sector.

The benefits of your organisation joining ASTEN include:

Professional development seminars, conferences and workshops for members.
Grants and fellowships to facilitate professional learning opportunities and sharing across our members.
Collecting and disseminating relevant information with member organisations
Representing member organisations in national, regional and international events and programs.
Directory of members showcasing their areas of expertise or specialisation and website hosting.
Facilitating the provision of professional assistance and advice.
Facilitating the establishment of special interest groups appropriate to member organisations.

Membership Types

Full Member

Full members are not-for-profit institutions and organisations within Australasia that offer interactive exhibitions and/or programs to further the public understanding of STEM.

If your organisation is a full member, the whole organisation gets access to travel fellowship and member conference prices, can attend General Council Meetings (with voting rights limited to one vote per organisation).

Full Member Fee: $330 AUD or $350 NZD

Associate Member

Associate members are not-for-profit organisations or individuals within or outside of Australia and New Zealand who are not eligible for full membership, but who demonstrate a strong interest in and support the objectives of ASTEN.

An individual/associate member can access travel fellowship and member conference prices and attend the General Council Meeting but with no voting rights (limit of one member per organisation).

Associate Member Fees: $85 AUD or $95 NZD

Corporate Member

Corporate members are corporations, private firms and other for-profit organisations that demonstrate a strong interest in and support the objectives of ASTEN (such as commercial groups including designers and exhibit builders).

Corporate members access member conference prices and attend General Council Meeting with no voting rights.

Corporate Member Fee: $550 AUD or $590 NZD

Becoming a member

Membership is endorsed by our executive committee, so if you would like to join, submit the form below to seek endorsement on behalf of your organisation, and then we will send an invoice on approval.

For full member applications, we ask that you also provide:

The names of two contacts at your organisation that we can get in touch with for network updates and invoicing
A brief one-two sentence description capturing the essence of your organisation for hosting on our website
Where the centre is located, including Indigenous place names where possible
A few pictures for us to include on our member organisation page
