Making and Makers in Science Centres
Questacon, Canberra (Ian Potter Foundation Learning Centre)
30 Nov – 1 Dec 2015
The 2-day workshop will focus on the Tinkering Movement. We would look to involve some other organisations from outside the ASTEN network that are active in this space and would be able to make a valuable contribution to the workshop. It would allow us to share with the network the results of the first years operations of the smart skills initiative, and explore ways the program can work with the ASTEN network as we reach across Australia. A key component of the smart skills program pivots around our work with teachers. It is proposed that the workshop component of the conference would look at some aspect of sharing/developing activities that ASTEN members might either deliver directly to visitors, or integrate into teacher professional learning programs. We are suggesting the workshop format would involve the running of “workshop samplers” from those members which conduct related programming, followed by some discussions about the approaches and our evaluations.
ASTEN would like to offer two fellowships associated with this two-day workshop.
ASTEN Tinkering Workshop Fellowships (up to $1000) will assist staff of any member organisation to cover expenses to get to the event in Canberra.
